Full Moon Meditation

by Maymoves

Whether you wish to practice gratitude, present moment mindfulness, visualization, or manifestation, guided meditation is a great way to calm the mind and invite positive energy in.

This full moon meditation is intended to be done outside in the moonlight, or somewhere that the moonlight is resting on you.

FULL MOON MEDITATION:

Settling into a comfy position, either sitting in a lotus or laying down, let’s begin by taking a few deep cleansing breaths-

Deep breath in through your nose, feeling the cool air enter your body, and exhaling though your mouth. Just noticing the natural rhythms of your breath.

This ritual of meditation under the full moon will allow you to visualize the powerful energy and connect with mother moon on a deep level. Notice, or imagine the full moon’s glorious size among the stars. Envision the bright, reflective light and energy completely washing over you.

As you sit or lay, bring attention to every inch of your body the ground is touching. Imagine roots growing from that skin- rooting deep into the earth. Like a tree. Follow these roots as deep into the earth as they go. You start to realize these roots seem to have no end-they keep winding deeper and deeper through the earth dirt. You are so grounded.

Now, bring your attention to every part of your skin being kissed by the moon.

Envision your body as a sponge- soaking the brilliant light. You are becoming amplified, glowing. Feel your energy expanding higher and wider.

Your roots run deep into the earth and your aura lights up as far as you can see.

Let this cosmic intensity affect your physical body. Notice where you feel it’s energy within your body.

Take a deep breath in- imagine the bright light traveling down into your belly, filling your solar plexus with this brilliant energy. As you lay here in the light of the of moon, allow the energy to wash away any tension you are holding in your body.

Relax your face, your shoulders

let it soften every muscle in your face and jaw.

Bring attention to in between your eyebrows, relaxing the skin over your third eye.

Loosen your jaw and tongue away from the top of your mouth.

Let it soften your shoulder muscles, arms, and upper torso.

May this energy soften your belly and hips- releasing all tension and emotions you are holding in these spaces.

And finally allowing your legs and lower body to completely release.

You see, you are a vessel for this divine energy to move in and through. Holding onto unwanted emotions and tensions that are not serving your greater good is only creating blockages where this universal energy cannot move. By noticing and releasing through breath, you can unwind these blockages to allow spirit to access your being. You always have your breath. You can always notice, release, and renew.

You’ve done the work. You’ve reflected, you’ve forgiven, and importantly, you’ve offered pieces of you to Mother Earth that maybe you didn’t know you still held onto.

Surrender.

Surrender feels good.

Letting go feels good.

Surrender to the energy and the tension you are so deserving to get rid of.

Let it go.

I release all thoughts, habits, behaviour, situations, and energies that are not longer of service to me and my highest potential. I thank the universe for all the lessons I have learned, and i have gratitude for all that was, is, and will be.

With every exhale, offer something new up to the glorious full moon. Notice that with every exhale, you feel yourself becoming lighter and lighter.

Leaving more and more space- for the new nourishing energy to home. In it’s place, I invite and receive love, joy, and abundance.

Take a deep breath in- I

Deep breath out- Am

Ending affirmations-

All my needs are fulfilled.

I am exactly where I am suppose to be in this moment.

The universe is conspiring to fulfill my dreams.

I am in alignment with my higher purpose, with my dharma.

I attract opportunities that align to my higher purpose.

I invite Peace and Love to enter my being.

I hope you enjoyed this little meditation I created for the Full Moon.

What is Ayurveda?

Discover Yourself Through Diet, Lifestyle, Movement & Herbs

By Amalia May | Maymoves | Come Alive Herbals

Ayurveda, the “sister science” of yoga, is a healing method rooted in holistic nature.

I like to think of Ayurveda and yoga just different branches of the same tree.

The Ayurveda lifestyle is becoming more and more popular on this side of the sphere; I really think that attributes to the growing interest in yoga, and people wanting the true understanding. At least for me, my thriving interest is just that. I want to understand TRUE yoga. I want to understand what’s behind the modernized ideas of that pretty four letter word. I want to feel yoga in and through every single day in my life. I know the liberation and joy this brings into my life, and I’m overjoyed to be able bring holistic health to my clients, friends and family in this unique way.

If you know me or have ever followed my journey you know how much I love this big ole rock we are wandering on. I’ve come to truly understand that we are so closely connected to Mother Earth-we are intertwined. It gives me goosebumps just typing that out. Ayurveda emphasizes on the knowing that the closer one is to nature, the closer one is to themselves & good health. So.. the further you wander from nature, the more disease in the mind and body, and the more the suffering-to any extent.

Ayurveda, in Sanskrit, means “the knowledge of life.”

To be the best version of yourself, you need to understand yourself. Right now, I want you to think of what fuels you...what makes you happy...what drains your energy...how certain movement feel within your body, and so forth. By implementing Ayurvedic techniques, routines and rituals, one can balance and nourish their body, and align with nature's rhythms. We do so through diet, lifestyle, and herbs.

In today’s world, there are CONSTANT stressors- environmental toxins, processed foods, chemicals in our food, in our beauty products, cleaning products and even baby soap. Even the air we breath in some areas is toxic. Not to mention many people live in fear and are stagnant, settling for less than they deserve. And then are our own inner stressors, like trapped emotions and unresolved trauma, C-PTSD, PTSD, Addictions, Mental Disorders. Of course, when attempting to “digest” it all, we then accumulate toxicity.. Which builds up in our machine system, ultimately compromising our health. This is where most disease is rooted from.

Through Ayurveda, we will find the connection between our inner nature and outer nature.

Ayurveda recognizes the elements- water, fire, air, earth- as a term called Doshas.

There are three doshas that constitute one’s entire being. Pitta, Kapha, and Vata.

Because the human makeup is as unique as a fingerprint, everyone is composed of a different fraction of each of these elemental doshas. To get started, take my dosha quiz and learn what your body needs to thrive.

MayMoves Dosha Quiz

Each of the doshas are a combination of the 5 elements and represent the unique blend of physical, emotional, and mental characteristics that make up every individual. When you can better understand your doshic makeup, you can create a lifestyle accordingly- enjoying a healthier and more balanced life. I know this part can feel confusing and overwhelming but that's why I'm here!

---This is why keto is working great for your coworker, but you just aren't seeing and feeling the same results. We are as unique as a fingerprint, and your body needs to be tended to with that in mind. --

DOSHA QUIZ:

This will give us an outline of your unique body type so we know where to begin.

The intention is to take the quiz twice-

1. The first time you take the quiz, answer how you have felt and acted most your life. Think back to when you were a kid and early adulthood.

2. The second time you take this quiz, answer how you are feeling today.

Take the Dosha Quiz now.

When you are done, feel free to email me your answers, for a completely FREE Ayurvedic recommendation.

“This Girl is on Fire” Stewed Apples

By Amalia May

CALM THE VATA DOWN: Manage this year’s VATA season and balance your doshas with this scrumptious, warm and invigorating recipe to break your fast with APPLES!

We’ve all heard the old adage, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”, heck 99% of us have said it ourselves! Have you ever given a thought to, why? Why does this seemingly ordinary normal fruit that’s growing in many backyards, pack such a “super fruit” punch? Well let’s first consider color. Red, right? Most generally when you think of an apple you think a red, juicy, delicious apple and what body organ do we think of when we see red??? ❤️ The heart.

Vata season stretches from autumn to early winter. Vata dosha’s characteristics are cold, dry, and light. Too much vata can be aggravating, but there are things we can do to calm our vata. Warming foods and spices like what’s in this recipe are a perfect way to start your morning in vata season.

Gut love. It’s important. A healthy gut is a healthy body, a healthy mind.

Did you know most of our immune health is reflected from our gut? So, let’s just make it a duty to take care of it. I don’t know about you, but i’ve spent too many winters being depressed, cold, and gaining too much weight. This winter I’m making sure I tend to my body and nourish it.

We crave warmth in the winter, right? So it’s important to really tend to the inner fire in our digestion. It’s always burning within us, cycling through our food turning it into fuel. But, as we slow down as the sun goes down and sleep, our agni also slows down. This stewed apple is the perfect breakfast (or pre breakfast) to gently wake up your digestive fire while actually supporting your digestive and immune health. Because it’s cooked, it’s much easier to digest.

Apples (and pears) contain pectin. Yeah, how you make jam.

Pectin, found in the fruit’s skin, releases when the apple cooks, giving our gut bacteria something to feed on. Pectin also boosts metabolism and reduces the production of the molecules that cause inflammation. Apples are an awesome source of vitamin C and of course, fiber. Fiber aids digestion by cleaning and eliminating impurities in your body.

This reduction of inflammation has been shown to help prevent heart disease and two other conditions where the arteries become inflamed as well as helping to regulate blood sugar and control appetite, protect against cancer, and safeguard the lungs. A+ for 🍎!!

This is a great breakfast idea to gently wake your body. Cooked apples are warm and soft. In the morning, your tummy isn’t quite ready for a full meal. So, simmering for 15-20 minutes is ideal. I love adding different spices with Ayurvedic health benefits, like cinnamon and nutmeg.

I love eating this in the morning because it satisfies all my cravings while igniting my energy.

This recipe is intended to be eaten in the morning for a light break fast.
